An exploration of american roots music, through the alan lomax library of congress recordings.

Vera Hall has a sweet, simple voice. It resonates with me on a very basic level, like a mother's lullaby. Her recorded songs are short, and the archive interweaves her long introductions with these short simply melodies. Born in the south, raised on gospel music, she seems to be a carrier of tradition - gracefully presenting history, context and humanity into the stories and songs that she shares.
